Preventing Child Sexual Abuse Before It Starts

About Us

Stop It Now Hong Kong is dedicated to creating a safer world for children by shifting the focus from responding to abuse after it happens to preventing it before it occurs.

Who we are

Stop It Now Hong Kong is a local preventative initiative launched by TALK Hong Kong Ltd, a registered child sexual abuse prevention charity based in Hong Kong.

Through community-focussed research, public awareness campaigns, and specialised safeguarding training, TALK HK works to shed light on the devastating impacts of child sexual abuse and empower individuals and organisations to stop it before harm happens. Stop It Now Hong Kong represents our dedicated digital pathway to support adults in taking personal responsibility for child safety.

Our purpose & philosophy

Rooted in the global Stop It Now! framework—first established in 1992 and expanded internationally across Australia, the UK, and Europe—our work is built on three core public health principles:

1. Adults Bear the Primary Responsibility for Child Safety

Children cannot protect themselves from adult behaviour. True prevention requires adults—including parents, educators, family members, community leaders, and individuals experiencing problematic thoughts—to actively take responsibility for keeping children safe.

2. Early Intervention Saves Lives

There is often a significant time gap between when an individual first realises they have problematic sexual thoughts, feelings, or online behaviours regarding children and when harm actually occurs. By providing resources during that critical gap, we can help individuals manage their behaviour and stop harm before it ever takes place.

3. Accountability Through Accessible Self-Help

We believe in empowering adults to hold themselves accountable. Offering a safe, anonymous space for individuals to evaluate their own behaviour and access evidence-based strategies is one of the most effective ways to protect children and prevent sexual abuse.

The Hong Kong Reality & Our Lucy Faithfull Foundation Pilot Collaboration

In Hong Kong, specialised, in-person clinical services or dedicated helplines for individuals concerned about their sexual thoughts or behaviour towards children are virtually non-existent. Recognising this critical gap, TALK HK has now partnered with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation and entered a pilot phase to provide self guided online support. The Lucy Faithfull Foundation (LFF) is a leading UK child protection charity dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse.

Through this agreement:

  • TALK HK hosts local summaries of LFF’s clinically-informed, evidence-based, 30-module online self-help programme directly on our Hong Kong platform.
  • TALK HK links to LFF’s UK platform where users can securely and confidentially explore the organisation’s free, interactive self-help modules.
  • Absolute Privacy: Because TALK HK does not offer clinical treatment services, helplines, or therapy, our platform serves as an anonymous, self-guided educational resource. No registration, identity verification, or personal data tracking is required.

How You Can Help Protect Children

  • If you are worried about your own thoughts or online behaviours: Explore our anonymous self-help modules to take immediate control of your actions and build a safe future.
  • If you care for or work with children: Equip yourself with the knowledge to protect them by taking our Stewards of Children Prevention Training.

Disclaimer: Stop It Now Hong Kong is a self-guided educational and preventative resource. It does not provide medical, psychological, or legal advice, nor does it operate emergency hotlines or clinical treatment services. If a child is in immediate danger, please contact emergency services (999 in Hong Kong) or the Social Welfare Department immediately.

TALK HK’s Wider Work: Empowering Communities

Preventing child sexual abuse requires a whole-of-community approach. Stop It Now Hong Kong is one pillar of TALK HK’s broader commitment to child protection across the region.

Our wider work includes:

  • Research & Public Education: Generating local insights to better understand risk factors, overcome cultural stigma, and advocate for public health approaches to child safety.
  • Prevention Training for Adults: Delivering world-class, evidence-based programmes such as the Stewards of Children® training, which equips parents, teachers, and youth-serving organisations to create an environment where abuse is less likely to happen, recognise the red flags of abuse and react swiftly to keep children safe.

We celebrate diversity, providing a secure, inclusive, and culturally sensitive environment for all individuals of all backgrounds, beliefs, abilities, orientation, or identity.
